Defining Board Variants n Layer Print Order : Control over the order in which layers are printed when generating a print job is now available. Setup Print Jobs dialog , Specify Layer Print Order dialog n Min/Max Net Width Rules : New rule attributes to constrain net width when routing. Min/Max Net Width n User-defined Layer Pairs : A new feature has been added that allows you to define layer pairing with respect to user-defined layers for the design, in addition to the existent pairing of predefined layers. This enhances the flip feature when flipping pads and vias. For further information, refer to the Pairs tab section of the Options Layers topic n Load Netlist Improvements : An option has been added when loading a netlist or reconnecting nets, allowing you to control whether copper pours remain poured or are unpoured. Utils Load Netlist , Utils Reconnect Nets n Matched Net Length Support : an attribute has been added that allows you to constrain the difference in routed length of member nets of the same net class. Constraining the lengths of nets in a class n Layer Stackup : A new feature for managing the layer stack for the active PCB design has been added. For further information, refer to the Stackup tab section of the Options Layers topic. n Trace Clean-up Improvements : An improvement has been added that removes trace segments that reside completely inside a pad or via. If you have a trace that enters a pad and several segments connect it to the center of the pad, those segments will be removed and a single segment will be added that connects the entering trace to the center of the pad. Utils Trace Cleanup n Unroute : A new sub-menu - Unroute - has been added to the Edit menu, providing the following commands – Unroute All , Unroute Net , Unroute Pin Pair , Unroute Selected , Unroute Selected Nets n Text Style Support in DTP Files : A new Text Styles section can now be added as part of a Design Technology Parameters file. Building the DTP Hierarchy , New Section Type dialog n Smart Rotation of Attributes : An option has been added to control the right reading of text for attributes during rotation or flipping. Component Properties dialog, Place Attribute/Attribute Properties dialog n Large Diagonal Cross Cursor Style : A new cursor style has been added, similar to the Large Cross style, except with the lines at 45 Degrees instead of horizontal and vertical. Miscellaneous tab n Option to control drawing of Copper Pour Fill : An option has been added to allow control over whether copper pours are drawn filled or unfilled. Miscellaneous tab , n Increment RefDes in Edit Paste Circuit : An option has been added to allow you to increment refdes values of components using a specific value, rather than changing names based on definition of a qualifier. Edit Paste Circuit dialog , Using Paste Circuit n Copper Pour Backoff From Cutout : A new manufacturing option has been added, allowing for control over the backoff of copper pours from cutouts. Manufacturing tab. n New Copper Pour Backoff Algorithm : A new algorithm has been implemented that backs away from objects at the correct distance as specified by the user. An option has been added to revert to the old backoff algorithm, for legacy designs prior to 2004. Manufacturing tab n Select Tool enhancement : The select tool has been updated to include use of the Esc key. If objects are selected in the workspace but there is no active operation, those objects will become deselected. If there is an active operation (e.g. drag, move, etc) then pressing Esc will quit out of the operation, leaving the objects selected. n Improved Pad-to-Pad Clearance Checking : Options have been included for both Batch and Online DRC tools, to allow you to include/exclude pads belonging to the same parent component when checking pad-to-pad clearances. Online DRC Tab (Options Configure dialog), Utils DRC dialog n Printer Setup access : Access to the Print Setup dialog has been added to the File Print dialog. The name of the target printing device is also shown. File Print dialog n Replacing Styles : A feature has been added to allow the replacement of one or more existing pad, via or text styles, with an alternative, existing pad, via or text style. Replacing Pad Styles, Replacing Via Styles, Replacing Text Styles n Add To Net/Remove From Net Enhancements: These commands are now expanded to work with all net objects. Adding a free net object to an existing net , Removing net objects from a net in the design n Gerber Update : When drill symbol output is specified and the output style is RS274-X, a layer for drill symbols is now created to ensure that they are drawn using dark layer polarity. n Print / Print Preview Update : When drill symbols are specified for printing, non-signal graphic objects embedded in component patterns are also printed. n Exploding Components with Attached Dimensions : When exploding a component that has an associated dimension attached to it, the dimension will now become dis-associated. Exploding a Component n Selection by Pattern for Components : A Pattern combo box has been added to the Pattern tab of the Component Selection Mask dialog, allowing you to filter components by pattern when using the block or single selection features in the design workspace. Component Properties n Trace Cleanup Enhanced : The Trace Cleanup feature will now remove junctions at tees when there are mis-matched line widths. Also, where a trace segment is added to connect to the center of a pad or via, the segment will be added with a width no greater than the minimum width of the pad or via, for the routing layer. Utils Trace Cleanup n Backward Compatibility Support : Design files may be exported in an ASCII format that is compatible with P-CAD 2002. File Export P-CAD 2002 ASCII n Multiple Instance Support : Multiple instances of the P-CAD PCB Editor may now be launched. n Autosave Enhanced : The Autosave feature now handles designs with dots in their path folder names and files with multiple extensions, e.g: C:\parent.folder\sub.folder\file.name.PCB n DRC Enhanced for Detection of Unrouted Nets : DRC no longer utilizes point-to-point connectivity to determine if a net is routed. It now looks at the physical location of net objects with respect to each other. Utils DRC dialog n Net-based BoardEdgeClearance : The BoardEdgeClearance attribute can now be assigned as a net or net class rule, which will be checked by DRC. Such assignments are, however, ignored by the Advanced Routing tool. n Place Connection Enhanced : a connection can now be placed from and to a pad or via, irrespective of the layer on which the pad or via is defined. For collocated pads/vias, an option is available to pop-up a dialog listing all the pads/vias from which to choose when running the connection. General tab (Options Configure dialog) n Assign Layer during Component Placement : When placing a component in the PCB design, and that component contains primitives that reside on non-existant layers, you will be prompted to select an existing layer on which to place these items. Place Component, Target Layer Names dialog n Automatic Connection to Pad/Via Center Point : When moving or routing a trace, and the endpoint does not fall on the center point of the destination pad or via, a trace segment will be automatically added to complete the connection.
